Hello dear subscribers and curious readers.
I’d like to announce that I am saying goodbye to WordPress by the end of this year, and will instead be housing my existing and future written pieces for Far Magazine on the popular writer’s platform and social media site, Substack.
Over on Substack, I have started a new publication in the last year called An Australian in New York, focusing on culture, pop culture, people who inspire in a positive way, and a bit about psychological phenomena and my relationship to technology. This publication is much lighter in tone to Far Magazine and has been a much needed reprieve to the heavy topics that I’ve covered for Far Magazine.
To visit and subscribe specifically to Far Magazine on Substack, click here.
The reason I’ve decided to make this move is because I want to be more focused in the coming year on producing a steadier stream of output, as well as wanting to publish more fictional works like short stories and maybe even complete a draft of a novel.
I also believe the Substack platform offers more streamlined solutions and modern features in terms of the type of formats it allows you to publish your writing in, including a better and easier way to connect with your audience all in one place by having a social media component be available as part of your writer profile, bringing you closer to the readers that you want to attract to your writing and getting followers excited about upcoming works.
Along with my decision to make my writing exclusive to Substack, I have also decided to paywall some pieces, with the main plan being to paywall pieces fitting into the topic of crime specifically. Over the years, I’ve spent a lot of time and effort to research the pieces I’ve written and give readers engaging content to inspire personal and societal change. I believe that effort is worth something, so by the end of the year, I will be creating the section Crime Corner over on Substack (as part of Far Magazine) and will be trying out a subscription model to earn funds not only for my efforts in bringing this information to readers, but also for donation to charities that combat the issues that I write about.
I think it would be a really powerful initiative and will keep me motivated to keep producing more content to inform and inspire positive change around these awful topics that unfortunately affect one too many of us in this world.
I hope you will join me over on Substack and subscribe to Crime Corner once I have it set up. My plan is to donate 20% of all purchased subscriptions to charities combatting the issues I write about.
So, until the end of this year, if all goes to plan, you will see some major changes to this website due to me moving things over to Substack. It’s by design, and a much needed change that will be a great refresher for me to kick off the coming year in my artistic odyssey.
It’s been a great run writing for you all, and I’d like to thank everyone for taking the time to read my work. I’ve achieved amazing reach with some of my articles and poetic pieces here. It’s made me proud of the work I do and that it’s not for nought.
I hope to see you all over on my Substack and I look forward to growing closer with you in the coming years!
Best wishes,
Darya L. Wang
